It's 3 months to the National Stationery Show, and I'm starting to roll up my sleeves and really get into the preparations. I applied and was accepted to the show back in July, but the reality is just starting to set in now. I did buy FLOR carpet tiles at a discount, as well as clip-on lamps from Home Depot, back in the fall, but only in the last month have I been really working on preparations for the show. Here's what I've done and still need to do (and hopefully this list will help those who are preparing for their first trade show in the future!):
DONE:
- ordered FLOR carpet tiles (signed up for their newsletter & facebook page back in August to get alerts for discounts...bought them at a 25% discount with free shipping)
- ordered clip-on lamps from Home Depot
- ordered electricity from the Javits Center
- entered 2 designs for the LOUIE Awards
- submitted cards for consideration in Stationery Trends
- designed custom wholesale order form and sent to printer's
- created 19 new card designs that will debut at the show
- paid booth fees in entirety
- designed mailer for both Chelleline Cards line and Voyages postcard line (well, actually, my husband did this)
- decided on foamcore walls for booth and decided on supplier
NEED TO DO:
- more card designs to finish
- photograph new cards
- revise wholesale catalog
- continue researching stores
- finalize and print mailers, and mail them
- continue working on and finalizing booth design
- print new business cards
- work on press kits
- create elements for booth
- design booth freebies
- order booth freebies
- design and print stickers for display cards
- create print versions of my mother's card line
- select new Voyages postcards & greeting cards and print samples
- buy the necessary furniture & equipment for booth
So, there you have it! The race is on!
