Hope

I was going back into my signature box to turn my email signature back on, when I found this quote still here:

"Cynicism is a threat to progress. Hope is the key to change. No cynic has ever led a movement for change. Hope must drive leadership, not cynicism and not fear. Hope and dreams will take you forward. Cynicism and fear will take you backwards."
--Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr.

As last Tuesday's results showed, hope and dreams have taken us forward.

The New Apartment

This little girl has arrived at her new apartment. It is custom-made for a friend of mine who just moved into a new place and wanted me to make her a card to commemorate the occasion (and it is one in a set of cards that I am making for her in exchange for her mailing back to me the clothes I left at her apartment in Stockholm). The idea for this card came one night when I looked up at an apartment building and saw all the windows lit up like bright rectangles against the dark sky. After much experimentation, I came to this:

Le Noel en France

In France, children leave their shoes in front of the fireplace on Christmas Eve for Pere Noel to fill up with candy and presents. Here is my rendition of this tradition, soon to be on my Etsy shop.

The Choice

I've been wanting to make an Alice in Wonderland Collage for a while now, and finally got to it a few weeks ago. I will be selling this as a giclee art print in my shop. I call this one "The Choice." Alice must decide which side of the mushroom to nibble on.

Ball of Yarn

This little cat is tempted by the dangling Christmas tree ball, which she's mistaken for a ball of yarn. Not yet available on Etsy; I am waiting for a clear day where I can get a good picture.

I'm back

I've decided to return to blogging--and to make my blog public. Here is a recent card I've made in commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
This cute little octopus is crossing its back legs to support Breast Cancer Awareness!

The Homeshow

was yesterday and I have to say it went pretty well. We managed to squeeze all 11 sellers into my apartment and came up with a dental floss contraption to hold the front door open. We also found a doorman (roommate of one of the sellers who came with her to the show)! The weather was bad but we were still able to get a fairly steady stream of visitors, including Grace and Rob (thank you!), and it was fun sitting around and chatting with the other sellers. I think we were lucky in that all of us got along very well and there were no particularly difficult personalities in the group. I've been in other organizations where the power struggle supersedes the goal of the org and that's no fun. And not to mention, I made over $100 in card sales! It definitely beats selling on Etsy. Anyway, you can see some pictures here. I'll post more as I get wind of them!
